The Roopankar Fine art Museum of Bharat Bhavan has two important parts, one consists of the collection of contemporary urban art works and the another one is known for its collection of folk and tribal art works. The urban art collection is the most unique collection of India. More than 2500 art works by the great stalwarts of our country are collected here. These consist of the paintings in diverse mediums, drawings, prints and sculptures. Following are the renowned artists whose works are collected here : Tyeb Mehta, Sayyed Haider Raza, Maqbul Fida Hussain, Ramkumar, J. Swaminathan, Manjeet Bawa, Akbar Padamse, Mrunalini Mukharjee, Vivan Sundaram, Bikas Bhattacharya, Jogen Choudhary, Prabhakar Kolte, V.S. Gytonde, Satish Gujral, K.K. Hebbar, N.S. Bendre, Krishna Khanna, Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, Jyoti Bhatt, Palaniappan, S. Balasubramaniam, Bal Chhbra, Laxma Gaud, Nagji Patel, Ambadas, Ramesh Pateria, Latika Katt, Vishwnathan and Amitav Das. Apart from these a host of young artists are represented here. Roopankar Modern Art Gallery displays the works selected from the same modern art collection.
